POLICE, TAKE INTEREST IN ECL’S UPRISING COMMENT – MWIIMBU
MINISTER of Home Affairs and Internal Security, Jack Mwiimbu, has urged Security Wings to take interest and thoroughly investigate the statement attributed to former President, Edgar Lungu, suggesting a citizens’ uprising against government to demand for change.
Delivering a Ministerial Statement in Parliament, Tuesday Afternoon, Mwiimbu stated that Lungu’s statement was not a coincidence, noting that similar utterances have been made by other opposition political players.
He noted that the former President could be privy to something that government is not aware of, hence the need to investigate his statement.
Mwiimbu advised leaders to desist from uttering statements that border around the peace of the country.
While addressing the Media Last week following a failed attempt to visit then incarcerated opposition member, Raphael Nakachinda, Lungu expressed displeasure at the conduct of the Police.
He further stated that if continued misadministration continues under the current government, citizens may call for early elections.
