STOP BURNING GRASS; IT IS EXCEEDINGLY PUNITIVE – NANJUWA

While others are having a merry hovering Jesus’ resurrection today, it was a serious marathon task whole day for Southern Province Minister Honourable – Credo NANJUWA, Permanent Secretary – Mr Namani MOONZE, Hon Michelo KASAUTA, Hon Herbert MOONO MAPANI, Representives from Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA), ZAF PADIC Commander along with SPECIAL DUTIES Media to have gone round to sensitize and WARN Fishermen in Four (4) fishing Camps including Cattle herders, about real PUNITIVE measures that await those that keep BURNING THE BUSHES.

The Fishing Camps that the Team held sensitization Meetings included Hundula of Chief MWANACHINGWALA, HATEMBO Camp of Bweengwa, KABULUNGWE Camp of ItezhiTezhi and NAMALYO Camp of Namwala shared by two (2) Chiefdoms of HAMUSONDE and NALUBAMBA respectively.

“By law, 12 years imprisonment is the minimum sentence to anyone caught burning the Bushes….. it is in the Zambian Constitution. You’re very luck because we have come all the way to SENSITIZE and WARN you this time. The next time we are here, the story will be totally different. It will be capture, capture, capture, arrest and convict”, Honorable NANJUWA warned.

Honorable NANJUWA further highlighted that it is more wasteful of resources to put fuel on the Choppers to follow culprits who burn Bushes for ANIMAL GRAZING than to buy relief food with for the people in Rural Areas using same funds in times like now where we have prolonged dry spells everywhere.

Meanwhile, Dr Namani MOONZE advised the attendees that Burning of Bushes has always been a serious crime that everyone needed to know or ignore and pay hefty consequences.

Honorable Michelo KASAUTA found a perfect chance to warn would-be offenders that the next time a tiny smoke is seen and smelt around, the obvious option will be to reprimand and arrest.

“Those who will try to hide bush burners will be forced to relocate to their native Provinces (NOT Southern Province). It seems you DON’T appreciate this cosmopolitan kind of living”, KASAUTA warned.

“Being a Lawyer, I’m telling you that the Law knows NO Political Cadre or Party preference. Once you’re caught burning or found with a box of matches in your own pocket, just know that the Law will NOT look at your face but get applied accordingly”, Hon Herbert MOONO MAPANI charged.
