Governmet has set aside K30 million towards Youth infrastructure development for the year 2024.
Minister of Youth Sport and Arts – Elvis NKANDU said the move is meant to increase Youths’ access to skills training.
Mr Nkandu said in an interview that, Government is working on having youth resource Centres in all the 116 Districts of the country because skills development offers both direct and indirect jobs.
“To continuously show our commitment to Youths throughout the country, Government has set aside a budget of K30million this year for Youth infrastructure development. We want to rehabilitate and complete youth resource centres using the funds such as the Kafue resource centre and Luanshya resource centre respectively this year.
“We aim to see a Zambia that will be full of innovation and creativity, youths that will have a mind-set change from being job seekers to job givers. As you are aware, it’s not everyone that can be employed by Government,’’ he said.
Mr Nkandu said government has prioritised skills development as a tool to tackle the unemployment levels among the youth.
“So I would love to urge the youths to grab the opportunity with both hands once given and make a difference in the society they live and the nation at large,’’ he said.
